A YouTube video claiming you can combine a kiwi and a banana in order to produce a hybrid of the two is spreading on social media.
In the video, the narrator claims that taking a part of a kiwi, part of a banana and facing their flesh together and placing them underneath the soil will result in a hybrid fruit that has the “protective peel of the banana and the juicy green flesh of the kiwi”.
Before you go and get your hands dirty, or green, or whatever, you should know that this isn’t real. In fact it’s an April Fool’s joke that has been spreading the Internet around April since it was first created back in 2014.
It was posted by Kin Community in 2004 and features Robert Mahar, who specialises in various DIY projects. It often spreads around April with many taking it at face value.
Of course anyone with green fingers will tell you that simply placing a banana and a kiwi together in a pot with compost isn’t going to product a “hybrid” fruit. It’s simply just made up.
You can watch the full video here where Robert reveals that it is just an April Fool’s prank.
