Netflix is an on demand video streaming service operating across the globe.
About Netflix scam texts, emails and phone calls
Netflix scams are generally sent through text message or email. Most variants of these scams are designed to panic a recipient into thinking their Netflix account has been disabled, or that something suspicious or unexpected is happening with their account. These are designed to lure recipients into clicking a link which leads to a spoof Netflix website.
An example the below text message claims there was an unexpected issue with billing and the recipient must click a link to resolve.
The below example claims there was an issue with payment and the user’s account was suspended and urges the recipient to click a link to resolve.
Other examples of Netflix scam emails or texts may falsely claim you can get a free Netflix subscription or prize, and these messages will lead to third party marketing websites known to harvest personal details for the purpose of spamming. See below.

Avoiding Netflix text and email scams
Most Netflix email and text scams will claim that a recipient needs to click a link to resolve account issues or suspicious activity. As such, the best way of avoiding Netflix phishing scams is to never click on any link in an unexpected text or email that claims to come from Netflix.
While Netflix may send texts or emails they will direct to the www.Netflix.com website. If you click a link and it directs to any other website (even a website with Netflix in the URL like www.verify-netflix-account.com) then it’s going to be a scam.
Instead of clicking links in texts or emails, open your browser and go directly to the Netflix website. If Netflix do need any information or action from you, it will appear in your notifications after you login.
