Rumours that an anti-masturbation mascot known as Fappy the Dolphin – played by a man named Paul Horner – was arrested for public masturbation at a Sea World are spreading online. The rumours link back to an article on FoxNews.com.hk that claims a man was arrested by police when found masturbating in a dolphin tank at Sea World. The report reads in part –
San Diego, CA — In an ironic twist of a fate, a mascot for a Christian anti-masturbation group was arrested today for masturbating in public. The mascot, along with his organization, Stop Masturbation Now, recently finished a federally funded 31-city nationwide school tour which they claim focused on educating children about the dangers and consequences of masturbation.
Fappy The Anti-Masturbation Dolphin, whose real name is 37-year-old Paul Horner, was arrested at Sea Worldafter employees notified police about a man swimming in the dolphin tank with nothing on except a dolphin mascot head.
However the rumours are false. Fappy the Anti-Masturbation dolphin is not a real mascot, and the organisation he is supposed to represent, Stop Masturbation Now.org, isn’t real either. It’s all a rather elaborate parody created by serial hoaxer Paul Horner. None of the articles are meant to be taken seriously since it is just a parody on religious fundamentalism.
Fappy – and Paul Horner – have been featured in a number of other hoax articles, including the claim that Michael Moore was to do a documentary centered around Fappy. StopMasturbationNow.org is a faux website that claims that masturbation is a “gateway to rape” and is one of the top ten causes for disease, amongst other ridiculous claims.
The article was published on FoxNews.com.hk in November 2015– which incidentally has nothing to do with the real Fox News brand. However this isn’t the first time this rumour has spread online. It was first penned in March 2013 and featured on another fake news website called SuperOfficialNews.com – also owned by the same hoaxer – only this time the alleged incident was supposed to have occurred in Portland, Oregon, not in a Sea World.
Our readers are advised to bear in mind that any article featuring characters like Paul Horner or Fappy the Dolphin or mention the Stop Masturbation Now.org organisation are likely to be nonsense articles designed to either entertain or fool its readers, depending on your perspective.
